Past Events
2014 Fundraiser — Uncorking Happiness
On April 24, 2014, Nebraska Friends of Foster Children held a wine tasting fundraiser at Nosh Wine Lounge. The culinary staff at Nosh really outdid themselves with their amazing food selections and presentation. The event also included a silent auction with highly sought after event tickets, local restaurants, and services. This night was truly the happiest place in Omaha.
Sponsors for this event were: Invisions Eyecare, Scott & Lisa Seier, John & Dianne Scott, KVC Behavioral Health, Black Hills Energy, Deloitte & Touche, and Tenaska Inc.
2012 Fundraiser — "Three Little Words"
On May 2, 2012, NFFC had the privelege to host Ashley Rhodes-Courter the bestselling author of "Three Little Words," her memoir of nearly ten years in foster care. Ashley had 14 placements and was abused, but amazingly overcame the instability and brutal treatment she received to become a successful, caring young adult. Ashley mentioned that while in foster care, an anonymous donor provided an item she needed for a science project. As she explained, it was a relatively small item, but very important to her. It was the difference between being set apart from her classmates and being one of them. As Ashley's example demonstrates, providing a small item or covering a fee so a child in foster care can participate in an activity has a huge impact beyond the actual cost. The event took place in the Metropolitan Community College Culinary Arts building with lunch provided by the talented students.
Sponsors for this event were: Best Quality Countertops, NE Families Collaborative, Tenaska Inc, and Select Specialty Hospital-Omaha.
2010 Fundraiser - Cover Your Brother
On June 24, 2010, Nebraska Friends of Foster Children partnered with Omaha musicians for a one-of-a-kind concert at the Slowdown. Musicians taking part in The Cover Your Brother concert covered each other's songs, and performed their own original work. The event will began with a pre-show party featuring a silent auction with exciting items from Omaha's premiere retailers and service providers, and with appetizers from local restaurants. The pre-show party was followed by a one-time-only concert from a selection of Omaha's celebrated music community. Musicians included: Outlaw Con Bandana, Sean Pratt, S.A.M. (of Capgun Coup), and headliner Simon Joyner. A late night performance also featured artist Conchance with his Stepchildren.
Sponsors for this event were: Best Quality Countertops, KVC Behavioral Healthcare NE, Alliance Group Inc. and Securities America.
Past Fundraisers - The 80's Parties
In 2008 and 2009, Nebraska Friends of Foster Children held our 80s theme party fundraisers at the Scoular Ballroom. Our guests enjoyed dressing up in themed clothing and dancing the night away to the best sounds from 80s.
